At Kite, we don’t just supply product, we also fit it.

This means we can take end to end responsibility for flooring projects. It also means we know about flooring and the quality of our products – we actually fit them!

Currently, our fitting service is only available for London and the Home Counties, but we’re adding more teams all the time. Remember, our teams do get booked up well in advance, so always check with us for availability. We also regularly have delays on other projects, which means last minute availability can sometimes happen.

Whilst professional fitting teams will deliver a better finish (they fit 100s of floors every year), they are not right for every project. Why? Well firstly, we only work with a small number of high-quality teams. If we experience last minute delays, it can be tricky to reschedule, which will be a problem if you’re working to a tight move in date. Secondly, professional fitting teams will often be more expensive than having a contractor fit. This is because they specialise in more complex floors, and have the tools (..and insurance), to allow them to do this. Finally, at Kite we fit to the British Standards (BS8201) of floor fitting. These are a set of rules, that ensure a perfectly fitted floor. During a flooring journey, there are often times when you can bend the rules to save cost (such fitting a floor on an uneven subfloor, or not taking the appropriate damp prevention measures). Many contractors will take a view on this, but we don’t. This ensures we don’t have problems with our floors in the future.

Whether to use a professional floor fitter, and also the steps you need to follow to ensure a smooth installation, are not always obvious when your project managing a renovation for the first time. To help we’ve written several blogs;
