Kite was launched in 2018, after Ed, the founder’s, frustration in finding a new floor. Since then, Kite has been on a mission to find the right floors for customers, transforming their homes.
Design-led, curated range
Unlike many flooring companies, we’re also designers. This means we’ve put in the leg-work to come up with a curated range, bringing down the millions of options that many consumers face. Our wood range starts at the Newington, a 19cm wide plank and goes up to the Highbury, a bespoke reclaimed board.
We also offer laminates, which provide a practical and a lower cost solution, where wood might not make sense. Each of our floors is carefully selected for the distinct features, benefits and value it brings to our range.
We offer only 6 or 7 shades per range. If we give people too much choice, they tend to agonise over a specific shade (e.g., does it have too much yellow? Is there a pink hue?). Natural light and surroundings have a far greater effect on floor colour than any marginal shade differences in the wood, so we have cut back on the agony of choosing between similar shades!
Our floor prices start at £25 per metre for laminate and £50 per metre for engineered wood. We also have premium ranges up to £100 per m2. Many online floor retailers discount continually, with claims of 50% off and more. We don’t do this. Our floors are some of the best value on the market. We work directly with high quality, innovative manufacturers in Europe and the UK, and pass the savings on to you. Whilst we do sell some premium floors we explain exactly why they are priced like this.
We don’t believe in posting out tiny samples. The standard samples we send are larger than average. For clients in central London, we can bring large sample boards to your home. This means you can see your floor choices in situ, and ask us any questions you might have.
