Layered Hard Wax Oak Herringbone

Working in partnership with interior Designer, Born and Bred Studio, Kite was commissioned to source a clean-grade Herringbone, with a layered Hard Wax oil.

Hard wax oils, dry into the oak veneers of the engineered floor, giving the best possible protection. From an aesthetic perspective, they also achieve deeper colours. On this floor, a natural wax was applied, followed by a white finish, that sat within the oak grains. The effect was a layered finish, that created a geometric pattern, you could stare at for hours.

This floor was also fitted by Kite. To start, Ply was screwed into the floorboards, followed by the application of a levelling compound, to take out the imperfections of the subfloor. After this, the Herringbone was fully bonded, by our fitter James.

Beautiful dark oak textured floor in my bedroom and also a large art studio fitted with the Newington range, a lovely light oak which was really reasonable. The samples Ed brought to try were all spot on and met my brief and it was really easy to choose the floors. The scheduling and invoicing was all handled really efficiently by Sacha in the office. As for the fitters - they were incredible! They did two large rooms in a day (one with a quite complicated dressing room). A quick note to express our profound gratitude for the service delivered by Ed and everyone else at Kite Flooring. I suspect we weren't the easiest clients to deal with: we changed which product we wanted several times in the lead-up to the final purchase, but they maintained their calm throughout. (Tip: if you can get to the showroom, do so. It makes the decision-making process much easier.) In the end, we opted for the Jasper dark wood floors and we genuinely couldn’t be happier with our choice. The dark wood gives a real warmth to our home, and it feels really special to be able to walk barefoot on real wood. The quality of the workmanship was exceptional as well. Ed and his team worked over-time to make sure that every last detail was taken care of, and checked back in a few weeks after installation to deal with any snagging issues. All in all, we couldn’t recommend Kite Flooring more highly. The floors are beautiful and the level of service outstanding.
